Big Bend State Park

Hwy. 170 is in top 10 scenic roads to travel according to National Geographic. The weather was perfect today, sunny with a slight breeze.
Rio Grande River
Using my quite voice, that is trail etiquette.
Part of the trail was a little tricky.
Site used for Streets of Laredo movie
Look at those clouds👆
Picnic in a tipi
Canyon was closed til yesterday because of flash flooding. Look at it now.
Cameo and Agate were real troopers.
Both had to wade the river on the United States side. 😂
You can always find a place to slide, whether it’s planned or not and this way the only way down.

Such a diverse place.

  1. Hi, Sue. We met at Needles Overlook to watch a sunset last April.  You two are having an amazing journey. Great photos of Big Bend. I was there too, fascinating place.  Do you know any nomads or RVers from Michigan or Southwest Michigan? I’ve settled into the Kalamazoo area for a while and a local magazine has asked me to write an article about nomad lifestyle. I have my own experiences but I’d like to get a story or two from someone else who originated from this part of the world. Can you help me?  Robert/Bob Weir269-267-6586www.RobertMWeir.com  Now availab

    1. Robert, How wonderful to hear from you! Oh yes, I remember you well, and think of you often, you made quite an impression on me. So happy to hear you are doing an article. Would love to read it. Please let me know the magazine and edition. I am sorry to say I can’t remember any RVer that we’ve met that were from Michigan but will keep a look out. We are headed home , stopping in Fredericksburg, Tx to see the Bluebonnets.
Soon we are headed to Calf. to see the Redwoods by way of a mustang convertible ( a childhood dream of mine). Again, it was so nice hearing from you. Friends forever, Sue.

      1. Sue,   Thank you sooooooooooo much. I’m smiling broadly because of your warm reply.  Aaaaahhhh! Your warm reply is really a confirmation that I’m on a good path for me … a better path than what I was on shortly before meeting you. That is, a problematic relationship that I had ended about 10 weeks before enjoying that sunset with you, your hubby, and friends at Needles Overlook.  And I continue to walk that good path. I’m in Portage/Kalamazoo, MI. I’m comfortably “settled” into a home and “friendship relationship” with a longtime friend who ended a marriage about a year ago; we comfortably support and encourage each other. I’ve got an office with dedicated writing space and writing more. I’m reconnecting with friends and colleagues.  I’m going to sell my truck and trailer this spring and stay here for at least 18 months, maybe longer, as I complete writing some significant books and a musical that I’ve been carrying around in my head for many years. When I travel again, it may very well be with my re-found friend either in a hatchback with camping gear in the US or with backpack abroad.  In my search to include stories about nomads from SW Michigan, I posted a request to a couple of nomad FB groups. I’ve gotten four replies from people in MI who are all overseas. Interestingly, one couple are house-sitting nomads who stay in people’s homes for a week or more in various parts of Europe.  There are so many ways to be a nomad. Even though I’m stationary for now, I still am a nomad at heart.  Please do keep in touch, dear Forever Friend.  Is this “comment” email the best way to connect with you? Do you have another email address I can use? Or phone number to text? I want to make sure I can send the link to the article when it’s published.  Vaya Con Dios!  Robert/Bob Weir269-267-6586www.RobertMWeir.com  Now availab
