I am about to start a Bible study on Psalm 23 by Jennifer Rothschild. Having memorized these group of verses and hearing them many times , I am eager to lean into what Father has to show me in a fresh new way.
Gregg and I are riding in the truck with both of our puppies. I am very conscious of Agate ,the newest of our pack ,that is riding in my lap. He loves to go and is normally pretty secure but when we get in the truck and it starts to move he prefers to be in my lap. He leans against me so tightly , I don’t believe you could get a sheet of paper between us. Leaning close gives him the comfort he’s looking for until he trust the movement. How wonderful it makes me feel to provide him with that security he craves.
It urges me to send up a prayer of thanksgiving to my Father for the secure, safe resting place he provides ,as we lean into Him. When we study the words of love that comforts us, we also build our trust in Him as we see how time and time again He has been faithful. How sweet the reminder is of just how He cares for you and me.
Psalm23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
